Climate change is a story that encompasses everyone — believer, denier, rich, poor, black, brown, white, majority, minority, male or female. It’s an equal opportunity wolf at the door. But, as is the case with diversity in almost every pursuit, more diverse groups bring more to the table, and considering that climate change is the most important problem humans must solve, diversity has a contribution to make to climate change.
Today in Rome Whirlpool has signed the “Valore D” Manifesto for Women’s Empowerment, an agreement consisting of 9 points which define concrete tools, in line with the Global Reporting Initiative standards (GRI), to enhance female talent in the corporate world.
Valore D is the first Italian association of companies to promote diversity, talent and female leadership.

As I was working on this article, the old Buffalo Springfield lyrics kept buzzing through my mind. “There's something happening here; what it is ain't exactly clear.” The more I looked at actual research about women as investors, both as investment managers and as persons making decisions about how and where to entrust their savings, a conundrum became apparent. Women are good investors, better than men, but women are not trusted to run portfolios.
