January 31, 2018 /3BL Media/ - The ranking is based on publicly disclosed data from 2016 based on up to 17 key performance indicators (KPIs) covering environmental, social and governance relative to company peers. A total of 5,994 publicly listed companies with gross revenue of minimum USD 1 billion have been analyzed, encompassing all sectors and industries. The global 100 companies come from 22 countries, where Essity is one of five Swedish companies on the list.
Each year, Essity employees at facilities throughout the United States take time to give back locally – all sites contribute in a way that is special to their own communities. Here are some of the ways different groups took to the streets to connect with communities and celebrate Essity’s commitment to sustainability during the last quarter of 2017:
Essity has shown its commitment to transparency by participating in the Environmental Paper Company Index 2017 (EPCI). The Group receives an overall score of 78.7% and 94% out of a maximum of 100% for its responsible fiber sourcing. The EPCI is a WWF tool that promotes transparency and continual improvement in the global pulp, paper and packing sector towards sustainability.
The Index assesses how a company´s performance and targets on responsible sourcing, clean production and EMS/reporting change over time.
The Vancouver Declaration is a public promise made by companies across the globe to work towards more sustainable sourcing of forest products. It also acts as an endorsement of FSC as our supplier of choice for certification of forest products. The Vancouver Declarations have also been signed by other sustainable companies, such as IKEA and H&M.
Tork PaperCircle, from Essity and its global brand in professional hygiene, Tork, is the world’s first recycling service for paper hand towels. On October 18, 2017, the service was recognized at the European Paper Recycling Awards in the European Parliament.

Getting your hands dirty means you’re not afraid to get involved. It demonstrates a commitment to a goal and is a sign of character. In order to make strides towards a better future, we need to dig in and work hard, and Essity is celebrating the people who do so on Global Handwashing Day and every day.
