In light of International Women’s Day, Sabrina shares how some of Gildan’s initiatives have empowered her
For International Women’s Day, we asked Sabrina Teixeira, Director of Financial Operations at Gildan’s headquarters, to share how some of the Company’s initiatives have empowered her as a woman in the workforce. Sabrina chose to talk about the “Leading the Gildan Way” training program, an initiative that helps turn managers into leaders.
“The Leading the Gildan Way’ program is designed to help us become the best leaders we can be. It focuses on our own development as individuals but also emphasizes the value of guiding, working, and communicating with people.

In light of International Women’s Day 2019, Gildan launched a campaign to recognize some of their 23,000 female employees.
Thirteen employees from seven different countries where the Company operates were invited to share their professional and personal stories. These women explored topics including passions, motivation, family, resilience and growth. Read their stories:

This is part of a series for Women’s History Month where female students met with women who work at Duke Energy to tour each employee’s workplace and learn about careers in the energy industry. By showing the girls careers they were unaware of, we hope to inspire them to cast aside gender roles and set their own path.
From dreams to reality, Idalia shares her Gildan story that started over 20 years ago when she was only in college.
Q: Tell us about your career journey:
I’ve been with Gildan from the start of my career, it’s the only company I’ve worked for and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
When I was in college, I used to drive by the Gildan facility and think to myself, 'one day, I’m going to work there!' Little did I know that shortly after that, I’d get an interview and start my journey at Gildan. That was 20 years ago!
