One thing I hear loud and clear from our community of female investors at Ellevest is the desire to help each other during this crisis. Some of us will donate our time, others our money. I think there’s another thing to consider doing: continue to shift capital to investments that are better for women. Because as we come out of this crisis, the same global issues that existed before COVID-19 will exist afterward — and in some cases, in a more pronounced way.

We sat down with Ruth, Gildan’s Operations Manager, to look back at her 15 year career at the company. From starting out as a Quality Supervisor to finding her fit in operations, Ruth shares her story and the personal milestones she reached along the way:

Q: How did you end up at Gildan?
My husband and I were living in Arkansas where I was working for a large retail company. He had wanted to move back home to Charleston for a while, so in 2010 we made the big move. To be honest, I was really sad about it. I loved my job back in Arkansas and I never thought I would find another job quite like it here.

Q: Tell us about your job here at Gildan?
I am the Manager of Customer Service in our Sports Specialty Division, specifically overseeing our GoldToe brand and our licensed brand Under Armour. I am responsible for a team of six customer service representatives and together we do everything that we can to make sure our customers’ needs are met. I’ve been working in this field for 30 years now.
