The Freeport-McMoRan Foundation Funds a Training and Technology Center in Safford, Arizona


The Freeport-McMoRan Foundation awarded $75,000 through the Graham County Community Investment Fund to the Safford Unified School District for a new training and technology center.

The new Center will offer after-school STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) programs such as robotics, 3-D printing and coding.

Cerro Verde, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, Sponsors Wastewater Treatment Plant for the City of Arequipa, Peru


Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde S.A.A. financed the construction of a new wastewater collection and treatment plant. The Enlozada water resource recovery plant recycles wastewater, which protects the Chili River and provides water resources for the Cerro Verde mine.

The state-of-the-art Enlozada plant treats domestic waste from the city. The sewerage treatment system creates a reliable source of water as it remains unaffected by seasonal drought.

PT Freeport Indonesia, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, Provides Business Management Training to Papuan Entrepreneurs


PT Freeport Indonesia’s Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Program mentors indigenous entrepreneurs through all aspects of business development and management. The program helps entrepreneurs prepare feasibility studies, obtain loans, and provides marketing assistance and training, in addition to bookkeeping and managerial skills.

The annual Economic Development Course at Western New Mexico University has received a $10,000 donation from Freeport-McMoRan.

The weeklong course is for community leaders looking to enhance their economic development skills. The course is accredited by the International Economic Development Council. Topics include strategic planning, real estate development and social media marketing.

Cerro Verde, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, Graduates 178 Women Business Owners From the Dreambuilder Program


More than 170 entrepreneurs from different districts of the Arequipa region of Peru successfully completed the DreamBuilder program in April 2016, which is funded by Freeport-McMoRan Inc., Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde and the Thunderbird School of Global Management.

ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Innovation Received $91,000 Grant From Freeport-McMoRan Foundation


For the past seven years, the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Innovation has partnered with Freeport-McMoRan to build the capacity of nonprofit organizations in selected communities near the company’s U.S. mining operations. Through a series of trainings and offerings, this partnership has allowed nonprofit organizations additional access and assistance to help them become more sustainable.
