Our approach to water stewardship is based on three key elements: protecting water quality, improving water use efficiency and engaging collaboratively within our watersheds. Check out some of the projects our team is working on to make water stewardship a top priority.

Over the last year The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation partnered with Andy Mann, a world-renowned National Geographic photographer and adventurer, to document the problem of nutrient pollution in America’s lakes and watersheds. In this video Andy reflects, “I’ve traveled the world sharing the heartbreaking stories of our planet’s water issues, and I’ve never seen anything like it.”
From the beginning, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation has been deeply rooted in the issue of water –- protecting it, conserving it, and ensuring everyone has access to it. We are stemming the tide of nutrient pollution that feeds harmful algal blooms in our waterways through research, funding, and public engagement.
Water barrels and storage tanks had for years dominated roofs in the Casbah and other neighborhoods spread over the crescent of hills ringing the Algerian capital and the blue half-moon of Bay of Algiers. “There was a big water shortage in this country,” says Ali Nouioua, a GE Power & Water manager based in Algeria. “Some areas would lose water every two or three days.
