CITGO Lemont Refinery Donation To Help Local United Way Chapter Provide Social Services

LEMONT, Ill., Nov. 25, 2013 /3BL Media/ -- The CITGO Lemont Refinery donated $201,765.60 to the United Way of Will County, surpassing their fundraising goal by more than $9,000. The money was raised during the 2013 "Give Your Share to Show You Care" Workplace Campaign, by more than 570 CITGO employees, including support from the United Steel Workers Union (USW) and matching funds from CITGO Petroleum Corporation. The proceeds directly benefit the United Way of Will County, which supports more than 46 partner agencies and community programs across Will County, Illinois.

In honor of Mary Kay’s Global Month of Service, the North Central branch in Chicago was looking for an extra special project to do for Mary Kay’s 50th Anniversary. While we brainstormed ideas, tragedy struck. We heard the sad news that Jennifer Buckles, the Wellness Manager at Mary Kay had lost her battle with cancer. She had been so positive she would beat it. We were devastated. Although we would never know the hardship she endured, we knew she would want us to honor her by doing something healthy. She inspired us to host a “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” fundraiser.

Silver Spring, MD, October  — Beginning Monday, October 14, Animal Planet’s non-profit initiative (NPO), R.O.A.R. (Reach Out. Act. Respond.) launches the third annual matching campaign to raise funds for seven participating R.O.A.R. partners. This year’s focus on “30 Days to R.O.A.R.” again provides partners with the opportunity to receive dollar-for-dollar matching contributions on consumer donations up to $100,000. The funds come from the sale of Animal Planet products, which are available at retailers nationwide.
