GE has been named to the Global 100, a ranking of the most sustainable corporations in the world. GE will supply Clean Energy Fuels Corp with new equipment that will produce liquefied natural gas for a network of gas stations for trucks along major U.S. highways. The market for such equipment is expected to grow into a $1 billion market for GE over the next five years. Clean Energy Fuels is the country’s largest manufacturer of natural gas for transportation.
GE is providing monthly financing options to customers in New York and New Jersey who need to retrofit or replace backup power equipment due to damage from Hurricane Sandy. The company’s manufacturing facilities have also increased their production schedules to meet the demand for key electrical distribution equipment and components to expedite the delivery of electrical equipment to restore and maintain power.
According to new medical reforms, 850 billion yuan will be invested into the primary care market and over 750 million Chinese people will join the primary care system. Under such a policy, international medical giants such as GE Healthcare and Medtronic Inc, used to providing high-end medical devices in large cities, are planning to sink their brand channels into the second and third-tier cities, and rural areas in China with their huge populations.
General Electric is expanding its relationship with the University of Connecticut’s engineering school by launching a five-year, $7.5 million initiative.
The intiative includes an endowed professorship, scholarship money for undergraduate and graduate students and $3.3 million in funding for company directed research at the school.
It was announced Tuesday at the headquarters of GE’s Industrial Solutions division here. The business unit makes dozens of devices used to control and protect the distribution of electricity.
