For Angela Vitellaro, Aflac CSR Hero and an independent agent licensed to sell Aflac products, compassion is key when it comes to her role as a volunteer coach with the youth development program Girls on the Run of New Jersey East.
This spring, Arrow Electronics employees in Denver, Reno and Columbus laced up their sneakers and hit the pavement for a good cause. Employees covered over 225 miles in support of local chapters of Girls on the Run.
While some participants enjoyed beautiful race days, others braved cool temperatures and wet weather to support the local work of the national nonprofit that uses mentorship and running to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness and build confidence.

In 2008, I began running as a way to stay fit and healthy. I never dreamed it would turn into so much more. After my husband passed away suddenly in 2010, I turned to running to find some peace of mind. It became my solace and offered me clarity. I can’t believe all the running goals I’ve accomplished; 2 full marathons, 8 half marathons and countless shorter races. Running has shaped my life not only physically but more importantly, mentally. I have a love and a passion for running that I want to share with others.
Many people who have led successful and fulfilling lives cite the fact that a mentor had a major positive impact on them when they were growing up. In fact, a recent Brigham Young University study shows that mentors can be pivotal in a student’s decision to go to college, which is the core foundation for a bright future. The study cites that for all teen students, having an adult mentor meant a 50 percent greater likelihood that a student would attend college.

Ultrarunner breaks female record for speed, while raising money for Girls on The Run
(3BL Media) August 20, 2012 - The North Face athlete Nikki Kimball completed Vermont’s iconic Long Trail today in just 5 days, 7 hours and 42 minutes, setting the women’s supported speed record and surpassing the current women’s unsupported speed record by more than two full days. Her time is the top five speed records of all time, both men’s and women’s.

(3BL Media) August 13, 2012 - The North Face, today announced that ultrarunner Nikki Kimball will attempt to break both male and female speed records by completing Vermont’s iconic Long Trail in just four and a half days.
