GM Foundation Invests $100,000 to Evaluate STEM Gains

DENVER, August 4, 2016 /3BL Media/ The GM Foundation is supporting Earth Force, Inc. with a $100,000 investment to further advance the GM Global River Environmental Education Network (GM GREEN).

The grant will support professional development for the educators that facilitate GM GREEN programs, such as online learning videos reinforcing the organization’s Community Action and Problem-Solving Process. The funds also enable Earth Force to build on its decades-long evaluation program by focusing on STEM education impact and alignment with GM sustainability goals.

In November, GM GREEN students from Southeast Michigan attended a Student Congress. Organized by the Clinton River Watershed Council, a nonprofit advocacy group and GM GREEN partner, the event gave students an opportunity to share their environmental investigations with peers from other areas within the watershed and to think about the positive impact they can have on their local environment.

DETROIT, October 24, 2014 /3BL Media/ – General Motors launched its watershed education program in seven new communities across Canada this year, the largest international expansion in the initiative’s 25-year history. The GM Global Rivers Environmental Education Network (GREEN) now comprises 53 GM facilities, including all of the company’s U.S. and Canadian manufacturing plants.

GM GREEN is the longest-running conservation education program by any automaker, impacting 150,000 young people through hands-on learning since its inception in 1989.
