SOMETIMES a task can seem too daunting. That’s how we at the life science business of Merck felt when we repeatedly got requests for lifecycle analysis (LCA) for our products. You may be saying, “Yes, they’re detailed, but come on.” Well, doing LCAs for more than 300,000 products isn’t an easy task. Was there a better way to tackle these requests?
Earth Day is this Friday, April 22, and I’m happy to share that through a new partnership with the Imagination Foundation, Time Warner Cable (TWC) is introducing the 2016 Earth Day Cardboard Challenge. This Challenge provides an opportunity for children of all ages and the adults who support them to create novel, imaginative and sustainable solutions out of cardboard and other recycled materials.
We’re pleased to share that our Go Green commitment is beginning to reach beyond the walls of our business and help create renewable energy for communities that we serve. For the past couple years, TWC has invested in solar deployments in Southern California, North Carolina, and Hawaii. In the last year, we have amplified our commitment with partnerships that will generate over 13 megawatts (MW) of solar power. Just to give you an idea of how much 13 MW actually is, it’s equal to powering over 600 homes in one year.
From October 12th – October 15th, 2015, over 10,600 attendees representing a total of 3,100 companies from 150 countries attended IMEX America - America’s worldwide exhibition for incentive travel, meetings & events.
The goal of IMEX America is to connect professionals in the incentive, meeting and events industry with key players and generate innovative ideas while also driving business on an international scale.
Last week, TWC took another step forward in our commitment to “Go Green” by announcing a new two-year goal to meet a 30 percent carbon intensity reduction by the end of 2016. Through our Go Green initiative, we’re working to use fewer natural resources and generate less waste. We are committed to making a positive impact on our environment and will continue to raise awareness about sustainability and environmental issues.
