Seattle’s Hometown Cruise Line gives back to the community with the Seattle Mariners
October 9, 2017 /3BL Media/ - Holland America Line Vice President, Public Relations, Sally Andrews presented a check for $25,000 to Seattle Children’s Hospital’s Uncompensated Care Fund Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, at the Seattle Mariners’ home game at Safeco Field. The company made the donation as part of its partnership with the Seattle Mariners Major League Baseball team and the K’s for Kids program that debuted during the 2014 baseball season.
Score marks the longest streak of perfect 100s in cruise industry

The event started with a message from Executive Director of Seattle Men’s Chorus Steven Smith, Artistic Director Dennis Coleman and Board President Bob Davidson, followed by a performance in the ship’s main show lounge by artists from both choruses. After a gourmet lunch guests were invited to tour the ship.

The cruise line was recognized for its commitment to protecting the environment, including the practice of not discharging ballast water in Puget Sound and for using marine sanitation devices on board its vessels.
The Port of Seattle presents the Green Gateway Awards to cruise and container lines that call at the port and whose environmental efforts are deemed worthy of recognition.
ms Zaandam Also Assists Seven Crewmembers From the Yacht Polonus in Antarctica
SEATTLE, Wash., January 22, 2015 /3BL Media/ - While en route to Oranjestad, Aruba, Holland America Line’s ms Zuiderdamanswered a distress call from the Bahamian inter-island vessel Excalibur that was sinking with eight crewmembers onboard. Zuiderdam was approximately 15 miles away and the closest ship in the area.
Zuiderdam altered course and was able to successfully execute a nighttime rescue of all eight crewmembers at 3:01 a.m. The ship brought them onboard and provided food and accommodations. The rescued crewmembers debarked in Aruba on Jan. 5.
