Happy Earth Day 2016, and greetings from New York City where history is unfolding today at the UN with more than 165 global leaders gathering to sign the Paris Agreement adopted at COP21 in December.
The mood is jubilant but it is also a reminder that—as a global community—we have a tremendous amount of work ahead to put the Agreement into action and keep the global temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius.
Imagine being a stranger in a strange land. Unable to speak the language, unable to easily find food and shelter. These people often feel lost and alone; forced to make a bewildering number of decisions alone.
Now imagine how a digital application could change the situation.
Think what a lifeline it would be to have a mobile phone app available in many languages that could quickly identify local emergency and shelter services. With the app people could find out where to get donated clothing, how to take beginner language classes, and how to get medical assistance.
