Cerro Verde, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, Featured in Mining With Principles Campaign for Water Treatment Program

January 26, 2018 - Cerro Verde is located in an arid region of southwestern Peru, close to the city of Arequipa. Population growth, industrialization, and sewage contamination of the river Chili were increasing pressures on an already limited water supply. Recognizing this, Freeport-McMoRan worked with local stakeholders to co-finance a water treatment plant that takes contaminated water from the local river and makes it drinkable.

May 26, 2017 /3BL Media/ -- Cerro Verde has supported the Promotion for Agricultural Development Project in surrounding communities near its operations in Arequipa, Peru. The program benefits the farmers of Tiabaya, Uchumayo, Yarabamba, La Joya and Hunter.

The Promotion for Agricultural Development Project started in 2012 with the aim of improving the quality and quantity of agricultural and animal yields to increase the economic income of local farmers.

Going Home with Care is a program developed by Valley Assistance Services for patients discharged from the Green Valley Hospital. The program provides follow-up care including driving services and in-home nursing care. The program serves residents who live in Sahuarita, Green Valley, Amado, Arivaca, Tubac and Tumacacori.
