For nearly two decades, Ideas that Matter has been a cornerstone in Sappi North America’s corporate responsibility efforts. By supporting the work of designers who are creating print communications to help solve complex social issues, Ideas that Matter is an important participant in the design for social good movement.

As part of its 17th annual Ideas that Matter program, Sappi North America awarded a team of students from ArtCenter College of Design a $50,000 grant to continue the development and implementation of “The Healing Tree: The Safe Niño’s Project.”

New Program Supports Employee Ideas and Charitable Causes

Inspired by the success of Sappi’s Ideas that Matter program, the company launched a similar program in 2016 called Employee Ideas that Matter. The semi-annual program commits Sappi North America to donate a total of $25,000 to causes that are important to employees. Ideas that Matter 2016 | The Pain Project: Creating Tools for Shared Decision-Making

Another winner of this year’s Ideas that Matter grant is The Center for Design in the Public Interest (DiPi) at the University of California, Davis. They worked with Hill Country Health and Wellness to create a 5-component toolkit that will improve patient/provider communication about chronic pain treatment options by empowering a shared decision-making process.
