The floor around the lone Christmas tree in Whirlpool Corp.’s Riverview Atrium was littered with presents Tuesday, due to the efforts of several employees.

Whirlpool Pride Network – an employee resource group that operates within the appliance maker – worked in collaboration with the Society of Women Engineers and Community AIDS Resource & Education Services to support the charity known as Angel Tree by donating gifts to children that are affected by HIV in the Twin Cities and Kalamazoo area.

Getting Back on the Landfill-Free List

General Motors’ expectations for a landfill-free facility are structured and strict, with sites removed from the list if even a small load goes into the ground. When that happens, both the local teams and global waste experts collaborate to find solutions.

GM’s manufacturing plant in Cairo, Egypt lost its certification in 2015, but worked hard to get reinstated. As of this summer, the site is landfill-free once again.

October 7, 2016 /3BL Media/  - More than 400 pen-raised northern bobwhite quail moved to their new home on Oct. 5, the 132 acres of authentic Michigan prairie grassland surrounding the FCA US LLC Dundee Engine Plant in Dundee, Mich. The quail were released by approximately 115 Dundee High School’s Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter as part of an effort to increase the birds’ population.
