Nicole Murphy, Head of Pharmaceutical Operations & Technology, explains that most of a company’s environmental impact comes from its supply chain. In our quest to go fossil fuel free, we are partnering with industry peers and suppliers to address ways to decarbonize as part of our Healthy Climate, Healthy Lives initiative.

As a purpose-driven company, Biogen seeks ways to reinforce our commitment to climate, health and equity. Our newly released 2021 Year in Review reports on our progress on these and other priorities to create a healthier, more equitable and sustainable world. Highlights include:
When the pandemic hit, in-person lessons at the Community Lab paused. That’s when Biogen-Lemelson-MIT Program Biotech in Action launched, providing online science and lab classes. Going virtual allowed us to go global – working with 10,000 students in 19 countries over the past two years.
After a two-year, pandemic-induced hiatus, our meal program – Heat-n-Eats – is back in action!
Seeing a need for people without access to kitchens or time to prepare meals, Food For Free began making and redistributing healthy microwavable dinners completely made up of rescued food in 2016.
Thank you to all the women who took chances and paved the way so we could forge our own paths today. This past Women’s History Month, we honored women in science by continuing our commitment to making STEM more accessible to girls and other underrepresented groups.
"Every day at Biogen we work to empower women. By bringing people together to listen, learn and share, March and beyond, we can continue to make meaningful progress toward equity," said Alisha Alaimo, President of Biogen, US Organization.
