Fifth Third Bank makes leading green power purchase

July 27, 2020 /3BL Media/ - Today, Fifth Third Bank announced that it is No. 33 on the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA’s) list of Green Power Partners from the Fortune 500®. Fifth Third Bank is using more than 149 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of green power annually. Fifth Third Bank is also No. 75 on the EPA’s National Top 100 List of the largest green power users from the Green Power Partnership. Fifth Third Bank’s choice to use green power helps advance the voluntary market for green power, as well as the development of those sources.
CINCINNATI, July 22, 2020 /3BL Media/ – Fifth Third Bank, National Association, has been named for the first time one of the best places to work for people with disabilities as part of the 2020 Disability Equality Index (DEI), the nation’s most comprehensive benchmarking tool for disability inclusion. The index is a joint initiative between leading disability organizations, the American Association for People with Disabilities, Disability:IN and businesses that have invested in accessibility and inclusion across their company.
If owning your own home has always been on your bucket list, waiting until the current COVID-19 pandemic is over—if that ever happens completely—can be frustrating. While people are still buying—U.S. sales of new, single-family homes in April 2020 were slightly higher (by 0.6%) than March numbers, according to the Commerce Department—they might not be buying as frequently as in previous years.
Last month, Fifth Third Bank collaborated with the Cincinnati African American Chamber of Commerce, the Cincinnati Herald, the Dayton Defender and the Dayton Weekly newspapers to host two free virtual homeownership seminars, titled “Owning It,” in honor of national homeownership month.
Fifth Third’s Madisonville Campus in Cincinnati was the site of the Hamilton County Recycling and Solid Waste District’s annual Compost Bin Sale on June 27. COVID-19 protocols were put in place for the event, which included cars pulling up and volunteers placing pre-ordered compost bins or rain barrels in cars. The event followed a virtual training event held with the county in which 200 Fifth Third employees learned the how and why of backyard composting, part of the Bank’s efforts to encourage employees to enhance sustainability at home.
