When Trevorn was 8 years old, he found himself in the midst of an absolute living nightmare.
At his primary school in Jamaica, one of his classmates made a catapult that fired a pencil which struck Trevorn without warning, squarely in the eye. After two emergency surgeries the pencil was removed and the lens was replaced, but his vision was severely damaged.
Did you know that unintentional injuries are the number one cause of death to children in the United States, and that, around the world, nearly one million children die of injuries each year, with countless others experiencing disabling injuries? Without question, it’s a cause that needs to be addressed with a sense of urgency.
It was my great pleasure last week to deliver awards luncheon remarks at the Safe Kids Child Injury Prevention Convention (PrevCon) in Washington, DC. I addressed the importance of having a sense of urgency about one’s work.

FedEx Express Awards Student-Run Company FedEx Access Award At JA Europe Company of the Year Competition
July 18, 2019 /3BL Media/ FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp (NYSE: FDX), awarded its signature FedEx Access Award to student-run company Entella, from Turkey, at the JA Europe Company of the Year Competition, Lille, France on 5 July 2019.
Entella, a company established by 10 students from Turkey, took home the award for its development of a solar energy pump that filters water to remove solid waste.
