National Grid Foundation Elects Eileen Cohen as New Chairman of the Board

SCHENECTADY, N.Y., November 19, 2018 /3BL Media/ – National Grid and the City of Schenectady have begun work that will transform the municipality into a “smart city” by deploying advance street lighting technology.  The work will start on Union Street between North College Street and Washington Avenue and will include retrofitting 18 streetlights with intelligent control nodes with a mixture of soft-white and daylight temperature LED bulbs.  This project is a first of its kind partnership between a municipality and a utility company.

Two years ago I sat down for a Veterans Day breakfast with about 100 National Grid employees who had served in the US Armed Forces. I was struck by two insights that morning that spoke to the wisdom of hiring veterans.

The first was that an employee from Buffalo drove halfway through the night to attend the 8AM breakfast in Boston – and was one of the first to arrive. She said there was no way she’d miss getting together with her fellow veterans.
