Earlier this month, volunteers from both Whirlpool Corporation and the city of Benton Harbor, MI came together for our first #Juneteenth Day of Impact to revitalize Union Park in our local headquarters’ community.

“Because it was done in conjunction with the community, and with the city and with residents’ input, I think it’s been an amazing thing. It didn’t happen to them, it wasn’t done for them, it was done with them,” said Benton Harbor City Commissioner Sharon Henderson.

After a couple of quiet years due to COVID-19, Whirlpool Corporation’s local FIRST Robotics teams were back with a full season of competition. Whirlpool supports seven different teams in its headquarters community with funding, coaching and mentoring.

One of those stand-out clubs is the Benton Harbor High School Tech Tigers. The Tech Tigers won the contest at Battle Creek, paired with two other teams—the Royal Oak Ravens and the very successful Stryke Force team from Kalamazoo.

Miriam couldn’t believe that it had happened again. The house she was renting was sold by the landlord without her knowledge. BENTON HARBOR, Mich., June 6, 2022 /3BL Media/ - Over one-hundred volunteers from the Whirlpool Corporation and the Benton Harbor community came out as part of Whirlpool's "Day of Impact," a program meant to commemorate the Juneteenth holiday-- and the end of slavery in the US-- through community service, to put the finishing touches on the newly revitalized Union Park.

Whirlpool contributed $500,000 to the project as part of the city's master plan to update and upgrade its parks.
