BENTON HARBOR, Mich., June 6, 2022 /3BL Media/ - Over one-hundred volunteers from the Whirlpool Corporation and the Benton Harbor community came out as part of Whirlpool's "Day of Impact," a program meant to commemorate the Juneteenth holiday-- and the end of slavery in the US-- through community service, to put the finishing touches on the newly revitalized Union Park.
Whirlpool contributed $500,000 to the project as part of the city's master plan to update and upgrade its parks.
33 students from Benton Harbor High School in Benton Harbor, Mich. attended a Whirlpool Corp. Welcome Event for our new mentoring program aimed at educating students about possible careers in both the technical and engineering fields.
The event took place at our Benton Harbor Technical Center to provide students with an opportunity to visit and tour one of Whirlpool Corp's facilities which allowed them to interact with employees currently working in the field and seek guidance from their Whirlpool Corp. employee mentors.
Launched in 2012 by The Manufacturing Institute - MI, the STEP Women’s Initiative is the nation’s marquee program to close the gender gap in manufacturing. STEP works to foster a 21st-century manufacturing workforce by elevating and inspiring women in the manufacturing industry through recognition, research and leadership, as well as by motivating former winners to mentor the next generation of female manufacturing leaders.
After renting a home for several years, Jasmine was ready to move into a home of her own. “Because I have six kids, my credit wasn’t great. Whirlpool Corp’s Amana, Iowa Operations provides wastewater treatment for local Middle Amana community

A few yards away from where thousands of Whirlpool Corp. employees are busily building refrigerators at its Amana, Iowa plant, a dedicated team of specialists is working around the clock to treat the wastewater generated each day by the plant—while also processing wastewater for the residents of nearby Middle Amana, Iowa, as well.
This symbiotic relationship has been going on since 1980, when an agreement was signed between Amana Refrigeration and the Middle Amana Sanitary District.

Over time, Monicia Hall has seen increased opportunities and improvements from leadership at Whirlpool Corp. Monicia mentioned one woman who inspired her and said, “[Diane] was always encouraging me to do more and gave me opportunities, so I started a Diversity Council at Clyde “to help others understand and embrace the differences and value of a diverse workplace and community.” Starting the Diversity Council has been one of Monicia’s highlights from her many years at Whirlpool.
