Whirlpool Corporation takes steps to use less paper in product packaging
A pilot program at Whirlpool Corporation is taking thousands of pages of literature that has traditionally been included in packaging for its products, and replacing it with QR codes that instead lead to digital versions. The project started in 2019 and involves multiple stages of implementation.
“The intent was to reduce as many pages that we print as possible,” said Whirlpool Corporation Senior Engineering Manager Ryan Strain. “At this point, we’ve only kept what is required from a regulatory standard."
The lifeblood of Whirlpool Corporation’s American operations is the 15,000-strong factory workforce spread across nine different plants in the states of Ohio, Iowa, Oklahoma, Massachusetts and Tennessee. Whirlpool Corporation is once again honoring its U.S. manufacturing employees during Manufacturing Day on Friday, October 1. This year’s theme is “We invest in you,” and focuses on opportunities for employee advancement, educational reimbursement and volunteerism at the plants. Earlier this month our employees in Mexico, together with the Mexican government, transformed our Nuevo León facility into a vaccination center, managing to administer more than 12,500 vaccines to Whirlpool Corporation employees, their families, and more than 20 neighboring companies.
That’s why Whirlpool Corporation has taken bigger and bolder actions in our all our manufacturing plants and distribution centers across the world to become carbon neutral. Our appliances today use less water, have a smaller carbon footprint and use recycled materials.
See the investments we’ve made because we truly believe there’s no place for waste, at home, work or anywhere on our planet.
