New Water Heroes Academy Will Empower Young Leaders Around The World To Solve Water Challenges Through Football

March 22, 2021 /3BL Media/ - Today, on World Water Day, global water technology company Xylem teams up with City Football Group’s global foundation programme, Cityzens Giving, to empower a network of 100 Young Leaders to deliver innovative projects that will use football to provide vital water education to 5,000 young people in five cities around the world. The Water Heroes Academy combines seed funding, educational tools, training and mentoring from Xylem and Cityzens Giving, giving participants all they need to create their own unique programmes.
Xylem, a leading global water technology company, began partnering with Planet Water Foundation ten years ago. With a shared mission of creating stability and equity for communities that lack access to clean water, it was clear from the beginning that Planet Water would be an ideal partner. Over the last decade, the partnership has provided more than one million people with access to safe, reliable drinking water and hygiene education. The one million milestone was achieved in November 2020 and was met with great excitement!
Despite an unprecedented pandemic that has brought many unexpected challenges, Xylem employees’ continued to donate their volunteer hours, donation dollars and passion for solving water to Xylem Watermark, the company’s corporate social responsibility program. Throughout 2020, Xylem Watermark was able to reach more people than ever through funding, education programs and awareness efforts. In the face of the pandemic, Xylem also directly supported COVID-19 relief through volunteerism, matching employee and business partner donations and providing community grants.

Xylem is one of 767 U.S. businesses that earned top marks this year.
Xylem Water Solutions Singapore has been recognized for its work to help communities across Southeast Asia solve water challenges, including providing humanitarian disaster relief, clean water access solutions and WASH education as part of the global water technology provider’s corporate social responsibility program Watermark.
January 7, 2021 /3BL Media/ - Xylem, a leading global water technology company, has donated and delivered more than 300,000 pieces of PPE to frontline workers in 2020, working alongside its partners. The personal protective equipment went to healthcare facilities and to water utility operators working to keep essential services flowing in local communities.
Throughout October, Xylem invited employees and partners to participate in the fifth annual Global Month of Service. With the challenges posed by COVID-19, we focused more on individual and small group opportunities rather than large group outings. We are incredibly proud of the ways teams, partners and individuals came together to exemplify how we make a difference in the communities where we live and work.
During the campaign, more than 2,200 individuals from around the world generously donated more than 8,800 hours of volunteer service!
For 34 years, Steve and Lana Gleason had to drive 40 miles to collect water for their home in rural Oregon. As the couple aged, the task became more difficult and even dangerous, especially for Steve who lives with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The challenge for reliable water became increasingly strenuous as the pandemic arose. Thanks to encouragement from a neighbor, the Gleasons applied for assistance through the Water Well Trust (WWT), a nonprofit arm of the Water Systems Council established to provide wells for Americans who do not have a safe drinking water supply.
