Everyone remembers where they were the morning of Sept. 11, 2001. With 2,996 lives lost in the attacks, and millions more affected, this moment in American history united the nation and awoke in me — and many others — a dormant feeling of patriotism and a desire to serve. 

Republic of Pittsfield, MA Take Part in the Largest Fourth of July Parade in the U.S.

Republic Services’ Pittsfield, MA division participated in the largest Fourth of July Parade and Festival in the country with over 175 exhibitors and sponsors. The streets of Pittsfield are lined with people from all over New England who come to watch and participate in the festivities. This year, Republic Services employees and their children marched in the parade with the Republic banner. Republic Services is pleased to be a sponsor of this annual event.

Pride and patriotism were flowing on Friday, Nov. 30 when more than 50 Avista employees gathered to dedicate a new flagpole located near the front entrance of the Clarkston construction office. The Lewis Clark Valley Veterans Council was at the event to perform an official flag-raising ceremony.

I love summertime, don’t you? Despite the wretched heat, there’s lots of sun (as a Los Angeles native, I appreciate any dose of Vitamin D I can get), BBQs, delicious seasonal fruits and veggies, and…patriotism!

From Memorial Day to Independence Day, the summer months give us time to reflect on our nation’s greatness and give special thanks to those serving our country—our troops, veterans, and military families.
