October is Fair Trade Month and the results are in. Philadelphia reigns as the Fairest City in America, according to the 2013 Be Fair Survey, with Boston and Dallas-Fort Worth following closely behind. To kick off Fair Trade Month, Fair Trade USA, the leading third-party certifier of Fair Trade products in North America, celebrates America’s fairest cities and reminds consumers to Be Fair by choosing Fair Trade when they shop.

Small businesses are the backbone of our country, and Verizon is joining with the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce to present the region’s inaugural Small Business Week May 13-17. Over these five days, we will be celebrating and recognizing the critical contributions of the region’s more than 150,000 small businesses.
One of the nicest things about working for GSK in Philadelphia is that our company has such strong roots in this area. We've been here since 1830! Many of my colleagues are second- or third-generation GSK employees. So it made sense that when we held the grand opening of our new home at the Philadelphia Navy Yard this past weekend, we invited our families to join us in the celebration.
The Lincoln Financial Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Lincoln Financial Group, recently sponsored a field trip to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia through our partnership with Teach For America (TFA). Fifty-seven eighth grade students from the city’s Antonia Pantoja Charter School spent an educational day touring the exhibits. Lincoln Financial Group underwrites the Franklin Institute’s ACCESS program, which provides free field trips for students from underserved schools.
