The Major League Baseball Players Association had quite a year in 2017, on and off the field, as the union began its second 50 years of advancing and protecting players' rights.
Advancing players' interests took on exciting new forms in 2017 as Executive Director Tony Clark sought to broaden the player fraternity's reach by strengthening ties to the former player community, providing new and better platforms for active players to engage with fans and moving ahead with the vision of building a solid foundation to support and develop youth baseball around the world.

NEW YORK, September 12, 2017 /3BL Media/ - Online balloting at www.MLBPlayers.com opened today so fans can select the six division finalists for the 2017 Marvin Miller Man of the Year award, which goes to the player whose on-field performance and contributions to his community most inspire others to higher levels of achievement.
Curtis Granderson, who this week was presented with the Marvin Miller Man of the Year by his peers as part of the 25th annual Players Choice Awards, had no sooner left the MLB Network studio from which the awards show was broadcast before returning to his mission of ending food insecurity in impoverished neighborhoods.
It was the middle of November, after all, and his month-long Grand Giving hunger relief campaign was in full swing in his hometown of Chicago and his adopted home of New York City. He had people to see and hungry kids to feed.

Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldson and Diamondbacks pitcher Zack Greinke received their Players Choice Awards in pre-game ceremonies this weekend.
Greinke, who was presented with his 2015 NL Outstanding Pitcher award from D-Backs teammate and player rep Paul Goldschmidt on Saturday, was 19-3 with 200 strikeouts in 222 2/3 innings last season while leading the majors with a 1.66 ERA, a 9.3 WAR, 0.84 WHIP and a .231 on-base percentage allowed.
In a pre-game ceremony Sunday afternoon, Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant received a prestigious Players Choice Award as the 2015 NL Outstanding Rookie. Selected in a secret ballot of all National League players in recognition of his exceptional season, Bryant received his Players Choice Award from teammate Jake Arrieta.
In recognition of his outstanding performance in 2015, the Major League Baseball Players Trust will provide a charitable contribution of $20,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project as personally selected by Bryant.
