JetBlue has completed or launched 34 of the 35 initiatives, and now transitions to initiative #35: developing a long-term plan for supporting Puerto Rico and fostering economic growth.
Company assisting industry efforts to deploy equipment, supplies and manpower to expedite rebuilding work across island
CHARLOTTE, N.C., January 4, 2018 /3BL Media/ - Duke Energy is joining the U.S. utility industry effort to help rebuild electric infrastructure and restore power to the island of Puerto Rico, the U.S. territory hit hard by Hurricane Maria earlier this year, with hundreds of thousands of residents still without electricity.
The Bacardi rum plant was back up and running less than two weeks after Maria. Good news for the place that produces 80 percent of Bacardi's rum and employs 300 people. The company has paid its employees throughout hurricane recovery.
"We got some comments from our primos [workers] saying 'coming to Bacardi to work it's like a bubble, because you forget all that's going on around,'" Class said. "But then people told me 'at four I get depressed because I have to go back to the reality of no power, no hot water, no food.'"
