Las Vegas Sands (LVS)and Clean the World unveiled the first-of-its-kind service in Las Vegas to help the homeless population in July 2017. The Sands Cares Fresh Start Mobile Showers Powered by Clean the World is a traveling hygiene unit that visits locations serving those experiencing homelessness to provide showers, hygiene supplies and other resources available to them.
As soon as guests check-in, their experience at a Las Vegas Sands Integrated Resort might begin at the front desk. Team Members check-in and greet more than 35,000 guests a month, just at The Venetian Las Vegas. Behind those desks once stood Jaime Miranda, who served as front desk manager in 2005. She had the privilege and responsibility to welcome each guest and set the tone for their stay.

Las Vegas ranks sixth in the nation with the largest population of homeless individuals among major cities and is also known to have the third highest number of unaccompanied youth, according to reports by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Sands for Singapore is the annual charity festival organized by Marina Bay Sands to raise awareness of partner charities and raise funds for them through a series of events. David Beckham, Sands Global Ambassador and international sports star, announced the sixth annual festival will begin August 24 through August 26 at a special launch event.
Las Vegas Sands and Clean the World teamed up in July 2017 to launch the “Sands Cares Fresh Start Mobile Showers,” as a response to the growing homelessness population in Southern Nevada, an initiative addressed by Sands Cares, the company’s global corporate giving program. The mobile hygiene unit travels across the valley offering hygiene services to those experiencing homelessness.
To provide the community with accessible horticulture, the Sands Cares and Sands ECO360 teams partnered with Penn State Extension, Lehigh and Northampton County 4-H, and the Community Action Development Corporation of Bethlehem to build planting beds for the Lynfield Community Center in Bethlehem.
“The partnership just made sense,” said Susan Stachowski, community relations coordinator at Sands Bethlehem. “With all of our combined resources, we were able to put financial backing, manpower, and education toward this initiative.”
In 2017, Las Vegas Sands established The Sheldon G. and Dr. Miriam Adelson Citizenship Award presented by Sands Cares, an annual honor to recognize Team Members across all regions who have demonstrated dedication to giving back to their communities and important causes. The award was created to honor the Adelson family’s legacy of philanthropy and service.
Last year, The Venetian, The Palazzo, and Sands Expo Las Vegas partnered with local non-profit conservation organization Green Our Planet to build six garden beds, equipped with drip irrigation lines, composter bins, and a garden shed, for a local elementary school. This May, the partnership expanded, and more than 600 Team Members came together to build an additional 12 gardens for various schools throughout Las Vegas.
