The key to keeping forests standing is to make them viable so they can compete with alternative land uses that require them cleared.  Sustainable wood extraction as a forest conservation strategy has long been recognised as one way to achieve this.

Tetra Pak needs to double recycling rates in order to hit a target of 40% of used beverage cartons being fully recycled by 2020, according to the packaging giant's latest sustainability report.

The report also explains that Tetra Pak will need to triple the number of recycled cartons, to about 100 billion a year, by the end of the decade.

February 12, 2014 /3BL Media/ - Tetra Pak® today announces the introduction of a new juice pasteurization process that saves up to 20% on energy consumption, bringing cost and environmental benefits for customers.

The new process, which is suitable for high-acid juices, improves efficiency by reducing the temperature of the second pasteurization process from 95°C to 80°C, without compromising the quality of the juice produced.
