Business Roundtable releases its 2015 Sustainability Report
In an essay published by the Business Roundtable (BRT) on sustainability initiatives at United Technologies, President and CEO Gregory Hayes highlighted the company’s commitment to “developing the smart, sustainable solutions the world needs – while delivering superior customer and shareowner value.”
With a diverse collection of books, glistening new reading tables and shelves, and smiling children and volunteers, United Technologies recently donated the 300th student library in partnership with the international nonprofit The Library Project. This marks a new milestone for the UTC China Library Project since its inception in 2011.
The generosity and volunteer spirit of UTRC employees ensured yet another successful international Holiday Party, Thursday, Dec. 11, with employees contributing 113 new unwrapped toys, hundreds of dollars' worth of canned and other non-perishable food items, and more than $2,650 in cash that will support families in need throughout the East Hartford community during the 2014 holiday season.
On Friday, Dec. 12, more than 100 volunteers from across the company supported UTC's $80,000 donation to the 2014 Marine Corps Toys for Tots campaign in Connecticut. As UTC celebrates 34 years partnering with Toys for Tots, this year set a record for volunteer attendance - with three opportunities to help - leaving many employee participants feeling they got more than they gave.
With eye on urbanization, partnership will develop a foundation for energy efficiency in new and old buildings
Leaders from across UTC recently formed a partnership with The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) by establishing a Center of Excellence to improve building technologies in India. This partnership was launched at the end of the fifth annual U.S. - India Energy Partnership Summit in Washington, D.C. Addressing energy efficiency, access, security and technology, this year's summit was titled "Accelerating Resilient Growth and Development."
