Albertsons Companies Foundation Continues to Support Veterans Nationwide


Nearly 10% of U.S. citizens have been a part of one or more U.S. military branches. This Veterans Day, join us in honoring those who have dedicated their lives to protecting our families and our freedoms!

Over the past five years, the Safeway Foundation and the Vons Foundation have donated over $3 million to organizations like the Bob Hope Veterans Support Program and Veterans PATH to help veterans, their families and their communities. Additionally, our stores came together to welcome roughly 3,000 veterans to our in-store teams! But there is still work to be done.

Jake Peavy and Volunteers of America Upgrade Veterans Transitional Home


Jake Peavy led a team of volunteers who spent part of the weekend building out a community area at a transitional home for more than 30 formerly homeless veterans in Mobile, Ala., called Eagle’s Landing.

The service project brought together the Jake Peavy Foundation and Home Depot together with Volunteers of America Southeast, a local affiliate of the Players Trust’s national partner that operates the Eagles Landing facility and others like it across the country.

Baxter International Foundation Supports ARVets Initiative to Increase Mental Health Services for Veterans

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark., November 9, 2016 /3BL Media/ – A grant from the Baxter International Foundation will help provide assessments, education, and a resource to veterans while teaching veteran family members and first responders how to identify and manage the mental and behavioral health issues faced by many veterans. The one-year more than $50,000 grant to ARVets will fund the Bridge to Care program that delivers mental health care coordination to veterans and their families living in northern Arkansas.

Multiple deployments, frequent moves and long periods of separation can present many challenges and opportunities for military families. So this Veterans Day, as we honor and thank those who have given so much for our country and our freedoms, we also commend the spouses, parents, children, siblings, grandparents and significant others who provide support and structure to their loved ones throughout their times of service.

Major Leaguers, Action Team Captains Celebrate Veterans Day by Building a House for a Local Vet


More than 50 Action Team Captains from Maine and Massachusetts joined Major Leaguers and New Englanders Matt Barnes (CT), Chris Iannetta (RI) and Ryan O’Rourke (MA), on Saturday, Nov. 14, for a regional service project to help South East New Hampshire Habitat for Humanity build a house for a local veteran and his young family.
