“The World Circular Economy Forum brought together more than 2,000 business leaders, policymakers and experts from around the world to present the best circular economy solutions”, it states on its website. As such, it reflects the current state of affairs and the direction of the international community towards transitioning to a circular economy. There’s really no better place to be if you crave a rich multi-stakeholder perspective on the topic in the short span of two days.
It isn’t known exactly how long the coast of the United Kingdom is. The main island of Great Britain alone is estimated to have around 18,000 kilometres of coastline, according to the national mapping agency. If the largest of the other islands are also factored in, this increases to over 31,000.
In a nutshell, the circular economy is about keeping materials where they have the greatest value in the flow of commerce, thereby limiting extraction of virgin materials and disposal of items in waste streams.
