December 31, 2013 marked the end of the first reporting period for the SEC’s Section 1502 Conflict Minerals Disclosure Rule and the beginning of reporting and auditing concerns.
The rule requires publicly-held companies to disclose whether their products contain conflict minerals as defined by the law: tin, tantalum, tungsten or gold (3TG) originating from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and specific adjoining countries.
Corporate citizenship, corporate social responsibility (CSR), and corporate responsibility (CR). These are the most frequently used terms by companies to describe the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) dimensions of business, according to the most recent Profile of the Practice study. In order to find out more about how corporations organize to manage their ESG efforts, the Center for Corporate Citizenship conducted its Profile of the Practice survey of 231 companies in the fall of 2013.
