On Oct. 2nd Whirlpool Corporation celebrated Manufacturing Day with its employees, and opened the doors of its manufacturing facilities to students and visitors. Manufacturing jobs are vital to a strong U.S. economy. For every dollar spent in manufacturing, an additional $1.37 is returned to our economy. There is a need, however, to show that manufacturing provides great career opportunities for young talent – changing the perception of the industry as dark and dangerous to one providing job opportunities that are innovative, advanced and secure.

The Albany Boys and Girls Club is receiving some national attention thanks to one if its longtime volunteers. On Tuesday, Maytag awarded one Albany local the 2015 Maytag Dependable Leader award. A.B. King was one of 11 national winners and said he was humbled to receive all the attention. “I never had anything this big before and the feeling is just unbearable and unbelievable," said King. Not only was King recognized by Maytag but he was also recognized by Mayor Hubbard and was awarded the Boys and Girls Club National Service to Youth Award.
New home being built Sept. 23 to Oct. 3 near IU Memorial Stadium

But once her new Habitat for Humanity home being built at Indiana University is complete, she will have her own living room for the first time in her life.
Construction will begin Sept. 23 on Garza’s home, the sixth Habitat for Humanity house being built with a Bloomington family by IU students, faculty, alumni and staff on campus, sponsored by Whirlpool Corp.
