Younger American workers are increasingly the focus of corporate attention because they will make up 75% of the U.S. workforce by 2025. But study after study shows that this younger generation isn’t content walking in the footsteps of those that came before them but is intent on charting its own course. For example, as Exhibit 1 below shows, while 75% of surveyed baby boomers intend to stay with their employers for the long term, merely 46% of younger professionals (aged 20 to 29 years) value long-term corporate loyalty.

Starr has been serving as Interim COO since December 1, 2014 when he was brought in to evaluate key operational areas and orchestrate changes to optimize America’s Charities’ organization design.
I am excited and grateful for the opportunity to be included amongst a diverse group of professional givers to exchange thoughts on growing workplace giving. While each leader will surely bring individual experience and expertise representing corporations, vendors and/or cause organizations, there is no doubt that all have a collective, common interest in growing good together.
As many of us have already observed, it’s imperative that employee giving programs appeal specifically to Millennials – young adults in their 20s and early 30s who are becoming an increasing substantial part of our workforce.

I bet you’d be surprised to find out that your matching gifts program doesn't affect how happy your employees are with your company. I know it surprised me, when the analysis of our data came back not too long ago.

Millennials bring strong skill sets, innovative ideas and technical know-how, so employers have much to gain and must do all they can to attract, engage and retain this generation’s workforce.
