Service Dog Puppies Visit the National Civil War Museum
Susquehanna Service Dogs' Civil War litter of puppies had their shots and they were ready for their first official public outing. Naturally, we took these seven-week-old puppies to the National Civil War Museum for the opening reception of the Museum's new exhibit, "Among Soldiers: Animals in the Ranks of the Civil War."
SSD Meade, Chamberlain, Julia, Clara and Harriet had a great time being in a new place and meeting new people!
Public outings are an important part of a service dog's training. Not only do the puppies get to experience a new environment, but they get to interact with many different people, teaching them that people are not something that needs to be feared. Public outings like this one set the dogs up to be successful service dogs.
If you would like to be a part of the Civil War puppies' journey to become service dogs, please make a donation to support them. Thank you!
