This video feature Senior Research Chef, Tom Frain,
"NBC called Campbell in November and told us they were planning on featuring Harold, a 14-year-old boy who likes to cook, on an upcoming segment," Tom said. "They try to film the child participating in an activity he or she enjoys so their personality shines through during the segment, and asked if they could come into Campbell and cook with a chef."
As a Senior Research Chef, Tom keeps a busy schedule. Like many of us, he is often on the road visiting customers or coming up with innovative solutions to meet their needs. But Tom jumped at the opportunity, and put hours into making sure Harold, the 14-year-old aspiring chef, learned all about cooking during his short time here at Campbell. Just before Thanksgiving on November 24, WCAU-TV/NBC 10 Reporter Vai Sikahema and Harold joined Tom in cooking some delicious dishes in Campbell's Kitchen.
"I thought it would be fun to teach him how to make food that kids typically like," Tom said. The menu included: homemade chicken noodle soup, individual pizzas, Mac n' cheese, chocolate chip cookies with orange zest, and fruit salad.
Tom also gave Harold a gift basket filled with Campbell products, as well as thought would give Harold a solid overview of classic culinary dishes and skills.
"This is a shining example of how we are living our strategies in order to do great things in the community and truly achieve our mission."
"I really enjoy doing these things, and think Harold had a great time," Tom said. "It's tough for kids that age to get adopted, so I hope that by showing him some cooking skills I was able to inspire him and give him some publicity."
