Solar Soil Vapor Extraction: Remediation from a Sustainable Angle

When contaminated soil is identified for removal from remote locations, traditional dig-and-haul remediation techniques can create logistical and costly difficulties for these off-the-grid sites, not to mention a variety of associated environmental impacts.

This challenge for the oil and gas industry inspired a non-traditional technique developed by WSP USA, that is emerging as a practical, environmentally beneficial alternative to dig-and-haul operations.

Cerro Verde, a Freeport-McMoRan Company, Lauded for Commitment to Guanaco Conservation

Cerro Verde, in partnership with the International Union for Conservation of Nature, hosted an international group of scientists, biologists and researchers in a virtual event to evaluate the site’s guanaco conservation program and discuss research and recommendations moving forward to protect the population. 

Guanacos are listed as critically endangered by the Peruvian government. Peru, one of five South American countries with guanacos, has a population of about 3,500 guanacos.

Twelve leading member companies, including International Paper, from the Forest Solutions Group (FSG) of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) have issued the first Implementation Report of the Forest Sector SDG Roadmap (SDG Roadmap) released in July 2019. The report provides evidence of FSG members’ commitment to implementing the actions in the SDG Roadmap, takes stock of the status of implementation of the different actions among FSG members, and sets a baseline against which to track progress over time.

CIT to Plant 50,000 Trees in Angeles National Forest

Latest environmental sustainability initiative between CIT and nonprofit One Tree Planted supports reforestation and revegetation in Southern California

PASADENA, Calif., December 8, 2020 /3BL Media/ -- CIT and its Pasadena-based banking subsidiary CIT Bank, N.A. today announced that it will plant 50,000 trees in Angeles National Forest through a collaboration with One Tree Planted, a nonprofit organization focused on global reforestation.

The trees represent the latest environmental sustainability initiative by CIT and One Tree Planted to support reforestation in key environments and will be planted in early 2021 as part of the Sawmill Liebre Reforestation Project, of which CIT is the principle donor.
