$170,000 grants will fill critical gap for 3,000 food insecure families in Greater Boston via Food For Free’s new grocery box program

To launch Just Eats, Life Science Cares, the life science industry platform for giving back, has committed $50,000, and the Biogen Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Cambridge-based neuroscience pioneer Biogen Inc.

1. Can you give us a brief history on Harvest in Italy? When did it start?
KFC arrived in Italy at the end of 2014 and from the very beginning the company worked on figuring out how to activate the Harvest Program in our market as a pillar of the CSR commitment. As a quick service restaurant brand our focus on CSR addresses topics related to food, as well as fighting hunger and reduce food waste– Harvest addresses both.
UnitedHealth Group continued its commitment to rebuilding the health of the Twin Cities and addressing health equity through a new partnership with the Northside Achievement Zone (NAZ). As part of the partnership, UnitedHealth Group will provide a $1 million grant to NAZ to fund the Northside Partners for Food Delivery Program.
Xylem, a leading global water technology company, began partnering with Planet Water Foundation ten years ago. With a shared mission of creating stability and equity for communities that lack access to clean water, it was clear from the beginning that Planet Water would be an ideal partner. Over the last decade, the partnership has provided more than one million people with access to safe, reliable drinking water and hygiene education. The one million milestone was achieved in November 2020 and was met with great excitement!
Kari Harbath is no stranger to hardship and suffering. In April 2019, due to pregnancy complications, she gave birth to a daughter who is deaf, blind and has CHARGE syndrome, a rare disorder that affects multiple organ systems in the body. If that weren’t challenging enough, the following September, Kari lost her mother, and then this past June, she lost her husband of 13 years.
