It was just one day. But it was the result of months of planning. And the impact will last much, much longer.
On a sweltering summer Saturday, people in Montgomery, Alabama, poured into a building called the MAP Center. The facility used to house a local news station. The building’s purpose may have changed, but the impact is similar – empowering people with information. In this case, it was financial in nature.
The Rockbridge Area Health Center (RAHC) received a $100,000 Aflac Community CareGrant award Wednesday, June 29, at a check presentation event held at Lexington’s Kids Playce park as part of Aflac’s commitment to improving medical outcomes for individuals in communities throughout the country.
The 2021-2022 school year has come to a close, with many Las Vegas families celebrating graduations and other academic accomplishments. This spring brought another major milestone for public education in the state, as Nevada Succeeds with support from Sands Cares completed its second cohort of educators participating in the InspirED Global Fellowship.
While the United Nations has designated June 18 as Sustainable Gastronomy Day to raise awareness about the environmental and social impact of how food is grown, transported, served and disposed, Sands works to address these topics every day at its destination resorts around the world.
In 2021, The LGBTQ Center of Southern Nevada (The Center) began an ambitious effort to raise funds to expand its Arlene Cooper Community Health Center into a full-service medical clinic. Originally opened as a place for the LGBTQ+ community to seek HIV and STI testing and counseling, the Cooper Center is now positioned to fill a growing need for a full range of medical care and support in downtown Las Vegas.
