Fortune's "Change the World" List Ranks 50 Companies by Social Impact
“More and more corporate leaders are . . . integrating societal needs into their corporate strategy, aligning their companies’ business missions with their impact on their communities and the environment.” That’s the thesis of Mark Kramer and Michael Porter, co-authors of an essay that describes Fortune’s just-published “Change the World” list. The ranking is compiled in partnership with FSG, Kramer and Porter’s nonprofit social-impact consulting firm, and their Shared Value Initiative, a platform for organizations seeking business solutions to social challenge. The article describes how the likes of GSK, Gilead Sciences, Nestlé, Walmart, Siemens, CVS Health, Accenture, PepsiCo, Heineken, and IBM are adopting “creating shared value,” a best practice championed by Kramer and Porter.
