(3BLMedia/theCSRfeed) New York, NY — November 5, 2010 — The Ethisphere Institute, a leading international think-tank dedicated to the creation, advancement and sharing of best practices in business ethics, corporate social responsibility, anti-corruption and sustainability, is now accepting nominations and applications for the 2011 World’s Most Ethical (WME) Companies Ranking.
“It’s an exciting endeavor for us to once again call attention to those leading companies that really get it right,” said Alex Brigham, Executive Director of Ethisphere. “At a time when corporate conduct is being heavily scrutinized by the government, consumers and shareholders, it’s more important than ever to highlight leading organizations that continually advance the standards of corporate ethical behavior and the transparency of and accountability for that behavior.”
The announcement of the World’s Most Ethical Companies Rankings will coincide with this year’s third annual Global Ethics Summit, hosted in partnership with Thomson Reuters’ leading online continuing legal education (CLE) service from West, West LegalEdcenter. This year’s Global Ethics Summit will take place March 15-16, 2010 at the Westin New York at Times Square. The companies designated as the 2011 World’s Most Ethical Companies will be honored at an awards dinner the night of March 15, in addition to being featured in the Q1 edition of the quarterly Ethisphere magazine.
The selection process for Ethisphere’s World’s Most Ethical Companies Ranking is based on Ethisphere’s proprietary rating system, the Ethics Quotient (EQ). Once a company is nominated, they are invited to complete Ethisphere’s EQ Survey. A company’s EQ score is calculated by the series of responses the company provides to multiple choice questions that cover a definitive sampling of core competencies across categories that include corporate governance, risk, sustainability, compliance and ethics in an objective, consistent and standardized way. Further, Ethisphere analysis includes rigorous review and verification of the submitted information, complemented by additional research as warranted. All completed surveys are to be submitted electronically and are due no later than December 17, 2010.
The EQ framework and methodology was vetted and refined by the expert advice and insights gleaned from the World’s Most Ethical Companies Methodology Advisory Panel
, which is comprised of leading attorneys, professors and thought leaders who specialize in legal compliance and business ethics.
Companies that have previously earned the designation of being among the World’s Most Ethical Companies include General Electric, Starbucks, American Express, PepsiCo, Google and Aflac, among others.
