B&V Reinforces Alternative Water Supply Expertise in Western U.S.
OVERLAND PARK, Kansas, September 29, 2016 /3BL Media/ – Black & Veatch, a market leader in the design and deployment of alternative water supply projects aimed at ensuring water resilience and security, has named Dr. Jeff Neemann as a Client Director based in southern California. Neemann will have primary responsibility for meeting client needs in the greater Los Angeles area and surrounding communities.
The relocation to California by Neemann, previously the company’s Director of Water Treatment Technology, comes amid a growing focus on water reuse applications to help alleviate drought in the West and Southwestern United States. Neemann has played prominent roles in several key, global water reuse projects. He assisted with design of the award-winning Bundamba Advanced Water Treatment Plant near Brisbane, Queensland, part of the largest recycled water scheme in the Southern Hemisphere. He also helped to evaluate water reuse practices for the Southern Nevada Regional Water Reuse Study and supported the Orange County Water District’s Groundwater Replenishment System Initial Expansion.
“Jeff is a subject matter expert on advanced water treatment technologies and processes for a broad range of raw water quality,” said Mike Orth, Executive Managing Director, Americas, for Black & Veatch’s water business. “He has influenced many global alternative water supply projects and developed water treatment solutions at some of the largest facilities in the world while also leading vital research projects for industry organizations. His dual expertise in Smart Integrated Infrastructure (SII) and energy efficiency has him on the leading edge of 21st century solutions.”
Neemann has specialized in the development and application of advanced technologies including ozone, chlorine dioxide, ultraviolet light, advanced oxidation, granular activated carbon and membranes. He is an inventor on two patents for limiting bromate formation during ozonation.
Over the past several years, Neemann has helped water utilities make greater use of data and analytics to optimize their operations. He has served as Black & Veatch’s Water Sector Lead for SII, which leverages analytics and monitoring from connected technology across infrastructure systems and networks to allow better data-driven decisions.
- Neemann, who joined Black & Veatch in 1998, earned his doctorate in civil engineering from the University of Kansas and holds both his master’s (environmental engineering) and bachelor’s (civil engineering) from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
- Neemann is a member of the Water Reuse Specialist Group in the International Water Association and a Past President of the International Ozone Association.
- Neemann is active in both the American Water Works Association and Water Environment Federation.
