Press Release

Hello, I’m Emily Polk, and these are your CSR Minute headlines for Tuesday, October 19th:

Sodexo Mexico has won its sixth consecutive CSR award for its business practices. The Empresa Socialmente Responsable certification was given to the company by the Centro Mexicano para la Filantropia. Sodexo Mexico earned its award through its efforts in four areas: corporate quality of life, corporate ethics, community links, and environmental responsibility. Its CSR programs in Mexico include community outreach, environmental protection, and employee engagement initiatives.

A new survey by Computer Sciences Corp and Chemical Week magazine finds that sustainable business practices are having a larger impact on the chemical industry. Major trends identified by the survey reveal a significant change from practices reported by the two organizations in previous years. In 2010, results show that most companies are driving a broad sustainability agenda in response to climate change and concern for the environment, as opposed to 2009’s focus on new, global government regulations. In addition, many chemical businesses are now leveraging sustainability as a top business initiative to drive growth and reduce costs.
