NAEM Announces Collaboration with the Center for Retail Compliance

NAEM's 2017 EHS & Sustainability Management Forum to Feature Emphasis on Retail Industry Challenges

April 24, 2017 /3BL Media/- Today the National Association for Environmental Management (NAEM) announced they are partnering with the Center for Retail Compliance (CRC) to encourage knowledge-sharing on best practices in environmental compliance.   The organizations are working together to ensure a robust conversation about retail-focused challenges during NAEM’s 2017 EHS and Sustainability Management Forum on October 25-27 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. The CRC will also host biannual meeting for retail compliance professionals on October 24.

NAEM is the largest professional association for corporate EHS and sustainability decision-makers. Its annual conference draws more than 550 attendees from more than 275 companies across industry sectors. As part of NAEM’s collaboration with CRC, this year’s program will include a special emphasis on how members of the retail industry are managing environmental risks, strengthening corporate safety culture and advancing corporate sustainability. 

The CRC was founded in 2013 by the Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) to provide retailers with resources to help them meet the challenges of state and federal environmental compliance. Its goal is to make compliance easier and more cost-effective for the retail community.

NAEM Executive Director Carol Singer Neuvelt said inviting the CRC to participate in the Forum reflects the association’s commitment to serve as a trusted network EHS and sustainability leaders across all industries.

“Strengthening the program’s focus on issues that are relevant to retailers is a natural outgrowth of NAEM’s mission,” Ms. Neuvelt said. “We believe this strategic partnership with the CRC will create a unique networking opportunity for our community, and build a new path for future collaboration between our respective organizations.”  

The move also reflects the evolution of RILA’s own focus as the organization seeks partnerships with external groups to grow its offerings around environmental compliance, energy and responsible sourcing. RILA is the trade association of the world’s largest and most innovative retail companies. Its members include more than 200 retailers, product manufacturers, and service suppliers. 

CRC Executive Director Tiffin Shewmake said the organization’s pre-conference meeting and support of the Forum program is a unique networking opportunity for retail environmental compliance professionals.

“The CRC serves a specific community of EHS and sustainability professionals – those in the retail industry,” Ms. Shewmake said. “NAEM provides that community the opportunity to learn from other industries and be exposed to the broader EHS field.”

“We hope CRC members take advantage of the networking opportunities at the Forum and develop productive relationships with peers across industries, in addition to continuing to learn from each other.”
