The Government of Afghanistan (GOA) recognizes prison overcrowding as a major problem facing its justice system. To mitigate this issue, the GOA occasionally issues pardon decrees to release those who have committed minor infractions. These decrees enable the Afghan prison system to reduce overcrowding and focus its resources on major offenders.

Through the Justice Sector Support Program (JSSP), funded by the U.S. Department of State, Tetra Tech developed the Case Management System (CMS), which allows the Government of Afghanistan (GOA) to compile and analyze justice sector data quickly and accurately. By gathering statistics on nationwide crime, our team and trained operators can monitor the length of time an accused individual has been held without being granted a court appearance.

Empowering and strengthening Indonesia’s government and anti-corruption programs

MSI, A Tetra Tech Company, was selected as the prime implementer of the CEGAH (meaning prevent in Indonesian Bahasa) project, an anti-corruption program, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), designed to strengthen Indonesia’s community of accountability by providing integrated capacity building efforts for the judiciary, executive, and independent agencies; civil society; media; and the private sector at both the national and subnational levels.
Starting this year, large companies based in the European Union will need to disclose additional non-financial information in their annual reports, specifically policies, risks and outcomes related to environmental issues, respect for human rights and anti-corruption.
As the world economy expands and companies experience globalization, supply chains have become increasingly complex. For example, the Adidas Group, one of few companies that fully disclose their supply chain information, works with over 1,000 independent factories in over 61 countries.
A joint research project conducted by the ASEAN CSR (Association of Southeast Asian Nations Corporate Social Responsibility) Network and the National University of Singapore Business School’s Center for Governance, Institutions and Organization revealed that businesses in Southeast Asia are not doing enough to combat corruption.
