Through the CITGO Red Sox-branded spirit pump initiative and other various CITGO station fundraising activities in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Maine, the funds raised will benefit research, youth programs, scholarships and local community support for the Foundation.
LEMONT, Ill., November 17, 2016 /3BL Media/ – In honor of the CITGO Lemont Refinery’s 90th Anniversary, employees were asked to serve as this year’s Grand Marshal for the annual Founder’s Day Parade in Romeoville, Ill. In addition to walking in the parade, volunteers from the refinery, known as TeamCITGO, passed out commemorative CITGO sunglasses to the crowd along the parade route. The Refinery Fire Department also joined the festivities by entering a fire truck into the parade, which followed the CITGO float.
SULPHUR, La., November 16, 2016 /3BL Media/ - CITGO Lake Charles Refinery employees recently raised 15 percent of the United Way SWLA regional goal of $4 million for the organization to provide essential programs and services to the Southwest Louisiana community. The funds were raised by CITGO employees during the refinery’s annual CITGO United Way campaign. The 2016 Give Today Change Tomorrow campaign took place on-site during September and October and raised a grand total of $621,266.32.
LEMONT, Ill., November 15, 2016 /3BL Media/ – For the third consecutive year, in conjunction with the Chicago Parks Foundation and the Alliance for the Great Lakes, CITGO sponsored a Mid-Coast Cleanup as a part of its Caring for Our Coast initiative. Earlier this fall, students from King College Prep and the Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences joined volunteers from the CITGO Lemont Refinery for a cleanup project at the 41st Street Beach in Chicago. In a one-mile area, the group collected 94.9 pounds of trash in just a few hours.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas, Oct. 25, 2016 /3BL Media/ – To help Southeast Texas students start off the school year on the right foot, volunteers from the CITGO Corpus Christi Refinery packed and donated 200 backpacks with school supplies as part of the 4th Annual Abel Herrero School Supplies Giveaway at the Robstown High School Auditorium.
SULPHUR, La., October 4, 2016 /3BL Media/ - Two local educators recently were chosen to participate in ocean voyages aboard the E/V Nautilus as part of the CITGO and Ocean Exploration Trust’s initiative to inspire science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) based education. E.K. Key Elementary fifth grade teacher and Ocean Exploration Trust Ambassador Tiffany Hill who traveled aboard the exploration vessel, the E/V Nautilus, in August, sailed off the coast of British Columbia in Canada to Los Angeles on an expedition.
LAKE CHARLES, La., Oct. 5, 2016 /3BL Media/ – The CITGO Lake Charles Refinery recently awarded $15,000 in scholarships to McNeese State University (MSU) Business and Engineering students. The 14 scholarships included five Business scholarships and nine Engineering scholarships to Mechanical and Chemical Engineering students. All scholarship winners received their scholarships through application and based on CITGO scholastic criteria.
LEMONT, Ill., October 6, 2016 /3BL Media/ – Fifteen college-bound students from three Lemont area high schools were awarded a CITGO Fueling Education Scholarship for excellence in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). The students received their award from Peter Collarelli, Government and Public Affairs Manager and were recognized by their peers during a school assembly.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., October 10, 2016 /3BL Media/ – CITGO Petroleum Corporation and Special Olympics Arkansas took to the highways of Arkansas for the World’s Largest Truck Convoy® to help raise awareness and funds for Special Olympics’ year-round programs for people with intellectual disabilities. On September 17, the Arkansas leg of the 2016 World’s Largest Truck Convoy® began at the Maverick USA and brought trucks, trailers, buses and other transport vehicles on a trip on I-40 before returning for food, music and fun.
