Monsanto does not and cannot work alone when it comes to water issues. Ready Set Drop is a digital media campaign raising $300,000 to acquire and distribute the HydroPack™ as a global tool for disaster recovery. HydroPacks transform any bad water into clean and nutritious hydration, saving lives and strengthening communities in water crisis situations.
The HydroPack™ is a single-use emergency water filter that delivers 500 milliliters of hydration from virtually any water source. When a HydroPack is dropped in a polluted source, water is filtered as it is drawn through the membrane overnight by osmosis, mixing with electrolytes and nutrient-rich powders to create a safe, flavored and life-saving drink.
Clean water is integral to Ecolab's vision. It is important itself, but it also enables our success in the other vital areas we impact — safe food, abundant energy and healthy environments. In 2011, we made great progress toward our vision; progress that can be measured through our efforts to make more water available for more people. While the numbers here are just highlights, they add up to enough water to sustain more than 21 million people for a year1. That’s equal to the populations of Shanghai, China, Sydney, Australia, and Pune, India, combined.
