17 academic and nonprofit organizations receive FCA Foundation grants focused on education and helping Detroit youth grow and thrive

November 14, 2019 /3BL Media/ – Today, the FCA Foundation, the charitable arm of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, announced the recipients of its 2019 educational grants (totaling $1,650,000). The grantees, all of whom are focused on improving educational outcomes for Detroit-area students, provide a wide array of in-classroom, after school, summer and weekend programming.
With a new investment of more than US $170,000 signed earlier this year, Gildan and World Vision Honduras are enhancing their existing partnership and will collaborate to diligently strengthen World Vision’s sustainable education intervention program in 1,200 schools in Honduras.

1. Tell us about your background (where you grew up, went to school, your family, etc.).
Corporate giving is not a new concept. Most companies make philanthropic donations or contributions to causes that are important to them. MilliporeSigma is no exception — but I’d like to think that our process, from inception to implementation and investment, is unique.

The Rostock native has already been godmother to an AIDA ship: Ten years ago, she gave AIDAluna her name on Mallorca. Helping people gain knowledge has been a running theme through data scientist, Jamila Holt’s, career. She started her professional journey as an educator over 13 years ago in Texas and finished as a Teacher Leader in the District of Columbia Public Schools.
Jamila recalls a time she co-led a project on brain-based learning that explored how students learn differently. She instructed teachers on how to use these techniques and incorporate them into their practice. “I was very happy to see these educators excited to implement what they learned,” she said.
